Training Course Questions

Common questions about our motorcycle training courses and what to expect.

What's the difference between A1, A2, and full A licence?
A1 allows motorcycles up to 125cc, A2 permits bikes up to 47bhp (can be restricted from higher power), and full A licence has no restrictions. The training requirements and test complexity increase with each category, and there are minimum age requirements for each.
How many lessons will I need before I'm test ready?
This varies greatly depending on your experience and natural ability. Complete beginners typically need 6-10 hours of training for A2, whilst those with some experience might need fewer lessons. We'll assess your progress regularly and advise when you're ready.
Can I take my test on an automatic motorcycle?
Yes, but passing on an automatic restricts your licence to automatic motorcycles only. We recommend training on a manual gearbox motorcycle to give you full flexibility in your choice of bikes after passing.
What's included in the course price?
Course prices include all practical training hours specified, use of training motorcycles, helmets and high-vis jackets, theory test preparation materials, and test bike hire for your practical exam. Additional lessons can be booked separately if needed.
